Rhode Island Youth Ultimate (RIYUL)

The Rhode Island Youth Ultimate Team met for eight weeks in the spring of 2007 and 11 kids participated in the Amherst Regional  Middle School Tournament (photos to right). In 2008 25 kids, forming two teams, participated in the tournament (bottom photo).

We will be forming this team again in the Spring 2009, with the following principles:

  • The team will meet three days a week for practice (similar to youth soccer) at the Hampden Meadows School rear field in Barrington R.I., Tuesdays and Fridays and Sundays beginning in March and ending in May 2009.
  • The team will participate in one tournament, on May 30, 2009, the ARMS regional tournament.
  • Participation is free and open to boys and girls from 5th to 9th grade from any town or state
  • The team will be coached by me (Matthew Stein, lower right), I have UPA Level 1 coaching certificate and a youth soccer coaching license.  I have two boys on the team.

Interested in participating or learning more?  Contact me: mstein@rwu.edu

I would be abundantly appreciative of any help distributing the call for participants flyer.  We would also be very interested in contact by other teams or coaches of this age group interested in joint-practice or scrimage.
